Mac Dunlop, performer/composer

Mac is a composer, producer, and performer. His latest Source FM show is  ‘An Ambient Year’, an hour of new music and sound mixes and tracks composed over the current twelve months (this 12 part series will also be remixed and broadcast on London’s Resonance Fm in September 2020). He has collaborated on several projects promoting contemporary music, poetry and performance both in the UK and Internationally. Projects include Caravanserai, Parklive’s The Spoken Word Marquee, and the Here Nor There International project. Currently he is developing the new Blauhaus Falmouthproject with his long term collaborator A. Lovejoy. His albums include Viral Nature, Petrichor, Somewhere Nearby and The Laughing Dampenier, and range from ambient to techo and improvised music. His poetry publications include Solarium, a collection written while Poet in Residence with the National Trust in 2017, and The Enigma Deviations published by the Poetry Point Press in 2015. Mac also features on Resonance FM, BBC Music Introducing in Devon and Cornwall, and in various podcast formats.

Mac comes from a free music, performance art and poetry background. He has worked as a solo performance artist, and creative collaborator with several experimental artist groups. Semi-ambulant during the 80’s, HereNorThere during the 90’s, and early millenium. Caravanserai over the last ten years, and continues to work on the creative residency center Blauhaus with his long term partner Annie Lovejoy. Mac has lived in the South West of Britain since 1985 and moved to Falmouth in 2007. During the last two years he has worked and composed with Cellist Oak Matthias in the O+M group. You can catch ‘Mac’s Piano Lounge’ every third Thursday of the month at La Cave Wine Bar in Falmouth, Cornwall. He also coordinates The Poetry Point and The Spoken Word Marquee – part of Falmouth’s Parklive Summer Festival series – to promote the work of other artists.

Mac has performed his solo performance and sound work internationally since 1980. Last year included performances in the Miseriacordia, Tavira, Portugal, Wawashkesh, Canada, ‘ St. Mary’s in Penzance, Falmouth Poly and St. Ives Arts Club. He has performed at Cube Cinema, Bristol, The Arnolfini, Third Eye Center, Glasgow, and The LMC in the 1980’s. produced broadcast series for Resonance Fm, The Source Fm, and often features on BBC Radio Cornwall.
